Isle of Man TT Preview
Well folks there is no NW200 report on account of the fact that my intended efforts never came to anything.
There are a few reasons for this but suffice to say the tragic deaths of both Martin Finnegan at the Tandragee, and then on the Thursday NW practice of Robert Dunlop I decided to take a step back from the sport and reflect a bit. I would also like to extend my personal condolences, as well as Team VRS to the Finnegan and Dunlop families at this time. We have lost two of our best racers but they have lost irreplaceable family members.
So for race day at the NW200 I decided to keep the bikes in the truck and basically take stock and evaluate where I really intend to go from here. I just love racing bikes around closed roads and my fight back to near full fitness as a result of 3 major injuries and all the associated problems during the last 2 years will testify to that, but these events of the last 2 weeks have made me think about it all.
What I have decided is that I will prepare and concentrate on the supersport class at the TT initially. If I go well in practice, I will consider the big bike races but I have decided to do this at a race meeting I truly enjoy. The TT is every riders dream to compete and I am no exception. I will give it my best shot and with some decent luck, who knows what will transpire. My first practice session done me no favours with the 600 Kawasaki melting a piston but I am no quitter! I will run the Yamaha in practice until the Kawasaki is fixed and we’ll take it from there.
I will be posting my progress on a daily basis on my forum so please feel free to read up on it and comment as you feel. If you are heading over to the Island, be sure to drop by and have a chat.
All the best
